Poster Mock Ups

This is the first mock up I created based on the idea of using the cinema sign as the header for the title of the poster. I am liking the use of the sign but the poster looks really vector based and i don't think this is the best style to use. I also like the lights in the background, this could be used in the background of the final poster design I decided to take forward.

This idea is using famous movie fonts. I do not think this approach will work. The target audience won't respond to this style of poster, as images is what catches their eye. The use of famous movie fonts could be used for the copy on the poster but I don't think the poster should be purely text based.

This is another typography based poster, again I do not think that this works. The overall poster is too bland and boring. Colour, objects and patterns are needed to attract the audience.

I like this idea, mixing photographs with illustrations. This idea would be photographs of famous objects that relate to films and have The Co-operative Film Festival printed on them.
Even though I do like this idea I do not think it is necessarily the best approach for the target audience

Film Festival Poster

I really like the design and style that has been used for this poster. It appeals to the audience I am aiming at. The images at the top inform the person looking at it what the event is about but are also stylised.
The typography also makes this poster. The use of different font, sizes and different colours makes the type stand out but also still fits in with the design of the poster.

Inital Poster Ideas

After researching various poster styles that have been used for successful posters aimed at my target audience, I have come up with four different approaches.

Idea01

The inspiration for this idea came from a theatre sign that you would see in London or America. The title of the campaign would be in the sign and the lights would be lit up to draw attention. This would work well as the header for the website as you could get the lights to animate so they are flashing.

Idea02

The second idea would follow the same style as a film poster but it would be advertising the film festival instead of the film. People who are interested in the festival would recognise the link between the posters and find it appealing.

Idea03

This final idea is based on iconic fonts that have been used in films such as Superman and Godfather. The poster for this would be typography based and the words would make up an object used for films. This would work well as a set off three posters.

Idea04

I really like the 3d effect that has been used in the title for this poster. It adds perspective and dimension to the poster.  I also really like the copy and paste effect that has been used for the image on the poster. It would appeal more to the audience than using flat vectors.

Idea05

This idea uses objects that are related to the film festival that are made up using vectors. This would give an bold, eye catching and fun poster. The only problem I can see with this poster is it would look flat and maybe to child like. The brief says that the Co-op want to try and stay away from illustrations so this may to be similar to the existing style for the Co-op Film Festival.
